Cat tree ceiling
When the scratching post reaches the ceiling, your cat is happy! Climbing, scratching, running, swinging, and hanging out at high heights โ that’s what cats love to do. If the ceiling scratching post is not only tall but also varied and interesting, it naturally becomes an adventurous playground. Your darling will feel at home there quickly!

Ceiling Scratching Posts at Petrebels
First and foremost, the ceiling scratching post is there for your cat to enjoy scratching. And this has a very important background: cats have sharp and very long claws that they retract and extend daily. This is because the claws are very sensitive, and your cat doesn’t want to place them on hard floors, walls, or rough mesh upholstery. Because that hurts. That’s one side of it. The other side is: cats need to use their claws from time to time because they grow. Just like nails, claws always grow.
A cat’s claws are naturally designed to keep your cat safe when climbing trees and slopes and to be able to strike and grasp their ‘prey.’ If you often hide ‘treats’ for your cat in ‘toys’ with small openings, then you already know: cats cleverly use their paws and especially their claws as tools.
If the ceiling scratching post is covered with sisal or other rough material, your cat will gladly accept the climbing offer. Because even the youngest kittens instinctively know what to use their claws for.
How to Integrate the Ceiling Scratching Post into Your Home/Apartment?
First and foremost, the ceiling scratching post will protect the rest of your interior. Although cats are seen as difficult to train animals, they eventually accept that they should fasten their claws on the scratching post and not on your furniture. Of course, you need to ensure that the ceiling scratching post fits into your home/apartment. It shouldn’t be too high. Place it in a way that it can’t topple over. A bottom and ceiling attachment at least in two points is very useful, especially if the base plate is not heavy. If the scratching post has a low center of gravity, it can withstand the ‘wild and playful’ cats without falling over.
The ceiling scratching post often has a considerable size, so in terms of color and dimensions, it should also match the rest of the furniture and your interior; otherwise, it will dominate the space completely. Most people find it more comfortable if the ‘playhouse’ for pets is somewhat inconspicuous. So choose the size and color for the scratching post carefully, as well as the location in your living room.
Tip: If the scratching post reaches the ceiling, it’s better to assemble it with two people!
